How do I book?
You can either use the online booking system or you can contact us by email at [email protected] or call 07397 005 355. When you book we will ask you for a minimum of a 50% deposit to secure your booking. If you have a large booking of more than 16 people please call or email to book as our online system will not accept bookings over this number. Please be aware that our online booking system charges a small booking fee.

What does Hire a Canoe provide?
A canadian canoe suitable for 2 or 3 people, a paddle per person, buoyancy aid and a 10Litre drybag
What do i wear?
We recommend you wear some form of quick dry clothing such as walking trousers or tracksuits. Jeans are not ideal as they take along time to dry, become very cold when wet and also become very heavy when wet.
Its always a good idea to bring a spare change of clothes for your journey home. Wear sensible trainers or boots for grip in potentially slippy mud that you are happy to get wet, please no crocs or flipflops.
What do i bring?
You will need a fully charged mobile phone for emergencies and a way of keeping it dry. Bring drinking water, snacks and suncream
Will i capsize?
The canoes we have for hire are extremely stable and are fitted with additonal flotation blocs for safety. Whilst capsizing is very unlikely it is always possible so please ensure all of your group are water confident.
What facilities are available onsite?
We have changing rooms, toilets and a bar / restuarant onsite .
Do i need to bring food or book the pub for lunch?
You are welcome to bring a picnic for lunch, on certain routes we have created picnic sites that are agreed by the land owners. If your route choice has a pub you will need to book, please ask Hire a Canoe to advise on the time to book for.

Can i bring alcohol?
In short, No. Watersports and alcohol do not mix.
Where can we park?
We have free parking available on site at the The Wingfield Caravan Park for the duration of your trip.
Where do we meet?
We meet you at the "Hire a Canoe" cabin on the camping field at The Wingfield Caravan Park, Montford Bridge, SY41EB. Please be aware that some sat navs can take you to the Montford picnic site so please check you have the correct destination set before travelling.
How do we get from Montford Bridge to the launch point or back to Montford bridge?
We offer free minibus transport up river and then you canoe back to where your car is parked. Or we collect you at the end and return you to your car, this is free transport.
Can i bring my dog?
Yes, dogs are welcome in the minibus (on the floor) and in our canoes. Please be aware that we do not currently offer buoyancy aids for dogs.
What is the minimum age?
7 years old in a canoe, 5 years old in a rafted canoe.
Please be aware that children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by at least one adult per child and children under 18 must have at least 1 adult per 2 children.
Do you take large bookings?
Yes - Maximum capacity for boats is 100 people.
What happens if its raining?
We operate until conditions become unsafe. Your safety is our priority and if our qualified team decide conditions are unsafe for hire we will not allow you on the water. Please check our live gauge page for river levels.
We operate a 48 hour cancellation policy meaning that if you cancel within 48 hours of your booked slot you will not be entitled to a refund or re shedule.
If the river is unsafe or unsuitable for hire we reserve the right to cancel your booking for your safety, in this situation you will be offered a voucher equal the value of your booking to rebook with us again.
Can i come on my own?
No, there must be a minimum of 2 people
